Somethin Special

Image
On our, “Somethin Special Farm” we had a pretty neat experience this past week. Our goat Jessie, (La Mancha) had two beautiful does, Elsa and Holly. This was her second birth with twins. While watching Jessie and her kids interact I had a few thoughts come to mind. Just how amazing the female body is. How God created a female to bear a child, to grow, feed, and deliver, how amazing is that?!?!?  Watching how caring Jessie was, cleaning and trying to help them as much as she could made me think of how each of us, whether we have our own children, nieces, nephews, cousins, adopted nieces and nephews, bonus kids, etc. How do we care for those in our lives? It is always intriguing to see how Stitch, (Great Pyrenees, Guard Dog) interacts with the new babies. He is such a gentle giant, immediately starts helping clean them and nudging them to get up once they have fallen, helping keep them warm at night. Who nudges us in our life? Who helps us keep going? In life we are going to be given cu

At least for me something that is extremely gratifying is cleaning, organizing, getting everything where it belongs and more importantly, so it is functional for you. The, “Big Blue Whalt” is our van, although many, and I even at one point swore I would NEVER, I repeat NEVER own a minivan, they are THE BOMB! Best vehicle ever for little kids and moms. So, today I though I would share a little bit of what is in our van. Again, maybe not for all, but for me when everything is organized I just love it!  1. This  has been awesome if you have an older car and want Bluetooth capabilities. Our favorite is to play Disney on pandora and go around the car having everyone guess which movie the song playing is from.  2. Trash can  Fits perfectly in our van in the passenger side, and there is even a little hook to hold it. Grocery sacks fit perfectly in, so no need to buy anything special, but you can if you want :D 3. This visor  panel is fantastic and really helps with having everything ready fo

Yum!!! For most of us the pandemic changed quiet a bit of what we do. For me and my family, we switched to buying a grain mill, milling fresh flour when needed, and making bread, not buying bread. Now, some people thinks its crazy, but you know it is something I would have never pictures doing yet thoroughly love even two years later! There is something to be said for working with your hands. The joy of kneeding whole wheat bread, or slapping sour dough on the counter, or even just hand mixing. Find joy, find something that brings you joy while using your hands. Elder Henry B. Eyring said, “You hold in your hands the happiness of more people than you can imagine”. You, each and every one of us makes choices, we choose if we are going to be happy, mad, sad, etc. For some it could be exercising, painting, writing, etc., find what brings you joy, find what you can use your hands to create. These are two of my absolute favorite recipes.  Whole Wheat Bread 2 1/2 C. Whey, (or milk) 1/4 C. B

Do you find yourself running constantly? Whether it be: school, work, kids, activities, etc. Do you find joy in what you do? I was watching my kids the other day and suddenly it hit me.. I need to stop and enjoy. We get so caught up in multi tasking, checking social media, trying to do multiple things at one time and we are missing out on many of life’s most precious and tender moments. Whether it be: seeing our children and how wonderful they are; enjoying a nice day outside with the beautiful creations that God has given us; enjoying time with the love of ones life even though it might be in a hospital or care center; having a nice customer at the store or restaurant. I believe that God helps us each and every day and He is willing to lift us higher then we could ever imagine, but we have to be able to listen, to truly stop and admire how and what He has given us. Take time, admire those around you, ask God how you can help someone else today. It always amazes me how sometimes the li

Laughter

The other day, wow what a day! We got a call that our cow was running down the road :P; Oldest son says, “mom someone’s cow is out” No one else has a cow, it’s ours! After said cow is put in, someone accidentally cuts their arm with tile pieces. Then when the dishwasher is pulled out, the water main shut off didn’t work and water goes everywhere, the oven door gets shattered, and the tip of the ice berg, if you aren’t already dying laughing, the cat plays in someone’s un flushed poopy toilet :D! By now I imagine that you are rolling! Sometimes, it is hard to remember to laugh, it is, “easier” to get mad/ angry and loose our cool. But as Marjorie Hinckley’s said, “The only way to get through life is to laugh your way through it. You either have to laugh or cry. I prefer to laugh. Crying gives me a headache”. Research has even shown that laughter is the best medicine. Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, as well as releases end

You Wash Your Diapers??!?!?!?!?

Yup! You read that right. We use cloth diapers in our household and have been for three years, and now on to our fourth kid. Now, cloth diapers are not for everyone, everyone has to do what is best for them and their family. For me personally, I thought about trying them when I was pregnant with my first, but let others sway my mind to not, I then started using after my second; and boy I am SO GLAD that I switched, I absolutely LOVE it, but that is me, I often joke that I was born in the wrong time period. The top four things I absolutely love about cloth diapering are: 1. Always have diapers on hand, (for me this is WAY less stress then having to go to the store every time I need diapers). 2. Depending on what type of cloth diapers you choose you can customize the absorbency, more padding in front for boys, more padding at night for heavy wetters, etc. 3. If you are planning to have at least 3 kids or more they save you money 4. They are SO STINKING cute! Their are multiple different

Tip of the day

Throughout our day it is a constant run...run to the grocery store, run to go pick up kids, run to work, run to go do this and that.... everyone is constantly going. Do we ever stop? Do we ever take just one moment to stop and appreciate/ see what is going on around us in our own lives? Do we ever stop to maybe say a prayer of thanks for what we have? Do we ever just stop letting the list in our minds run and run? It’s 8a.m. And my kids ate an hour ago lol. The list will always keep running on of, “well if I get this done then i’ll Eat breakfast”, and so on... take time for yourself. On my run this morning it was so freeing! Just listening to music quietly, but enjoying the sounds of birds chirping, the beautiful sun rising, the fog lifting from the ground, the paws hitting the pavement, one dog panting as if we were running a marathon and it was only 2 miles lol, and just enjoying nature. The world we live in is so beautiful, there are so many beautiful things that God has create
